Pagos

Recognition of Pagos wine arose to protect certain singular wines, born from the close relationship between the wine and the winery, with these wines being of exceptional quality, highly recognized by both specialists and consumers alike.

Pago wines are produced under very particular conditions, with the basic characteristic residing in the fact that they are produced in areas that are highly delimited, that is in individual vineyards or wine estates. This is so much so that a Pago wine can never be produced with grapes from another place. In fact, a Pago wine must be obtained from grapes that are cultivated and wine that is produced on the estate in which the Pago is found, with it not being possible to take the grapes to any other winery.

Also, the characteristics of these wines are completely different to those made in areas close by. The microclimate, traditional production method and cultivation, among other characteristics, all come into play. This all turns the wine that is obtained into something truly special. When a Pago wine is found within a designation of origin area in its totality, it may obtain the certification of “qualified Pago wine”.
